ON OCTOBER 22, THE WORLD BALLET PREMIERE IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE AT THE TBILISI Z. PALIASHVILI OPERA AND BALLET STATE THEATRE

 

AUGUST BOURNONVILLE’S BALLET “FROM SIBERIA TO MOSCOW” WILL BE PRESENTED IN TBILISI FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 105 YEARS

 

 

On October 22, 2009, the Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili Opera and Ballet State Theatre will present the world ballet premiere. The State Ballet of Georgia, under the artistic directorship of Nina Ananiashvili, will perform the two-act ballet by August Bournonville “From Siberia to Moscow” (music by Hans Christian Møller). The premiere of the Work took place in Royal Theatre in Copenhagen on November 29, 1876 and has not been staged since. Working in Tbilisi to stage the Ballet are the reconstructor of the Bournonville ballets and producer Frank Andersen, Ballet Masters Anne Marie Vessel Schlüter, Dinna Bjørn and the Assistant to the Choreographer Eva Kloborg. The design of the Ballet is prepared by David Monavardisashvili, the Costume Designer is Alexei Vasiliev.

 

Planned ahead of the premiere is the exhibition dedicated to the work of August Bournonville and the meetings of the balletomanes and audience with the well-known ballet critics from around the world.

 

The Ballet Company Administration offers the foreign visitors wishing to attend the premiere a four-day program, including the sightseeing of Tbilisi, participation in the Bournonville seminar, attending the rehearsal of the Prima Ballerina Nina Ananiashvili, reservation of the ticket for the premiere evening, and the reservation of the hotel and air tickets.

 

NOTE: The deadline for informing the Administration of Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater about participation in the four-day program is September 22, 2009.
